Prometheus Futures update due next week

Have you been wondering what happened to the Futures updates we promised a "few" weeks ago? Well stop wondering and take off your thought reading helmets, the time has finally come to update the Prometheus Futures. Next Tuesday, August 28th, we will release a major update to the Prometheus Futures build, and hopefully the scale of this update will make the wait worth it.

In the next Futures release you'll find stable betas of RadWindow, RadInput, and the totally new RadEditor. Of these newly "prometheus'd" controls, RadEditor is clearly the most significant. RadEditor has been completely re-built for Prometheus and its performance has been radically improved. If you're a fan of RadEditor, you'll definitely want to start playing with this beta next week.

The controls that have already been introduced in the Futures build will see some updates next week, too. RadScheduler and RadChart have a number of new features to show-off as all of the controls get ready for the big Q2 release in September. So stay tuned and watch for the release announcement next week!

So, with the Q2 release the Prometheus controls will be out of Beta? Pardon me if you've already made this clear but I was planning to stick with the regular controls until about a month ago so I didn't pay as much attention to the Prometheus news. But now I'm planning to jump into the Prometheus controls right away.

Thanks

Let me try to clarify the Prometheus beta status. The Prometheus suite will remain in beta until the Q3 timeframe. The individual controls released in official Prometheus build, though, are not beta controls. They are stable, fully supported, production ready controls.

The suite will remain in beta until all of the existing RadControls have Prometheus equivalents. Once that task is done, the beta tag will be removed from the suite.

Look for RadGrid, RadTreeview, and other RadControls to have their Prometheus counterparts in Q3.

Hopefully that clears things up.

The MOST used control would have to be RADGrid, why would it be LAST to put in!!

RadGrid is also one of the most complex RadControls. For that reason, it needs extra time to be ported to Prometheus at Telerik standards.

In the mean time, the RadGrid in the .NET 2.0 suite is being actively updated. Look for a major update in Q2 (version 5) that will have some great new features and performance improvements.

As soon as a stable build of RadGrid is ready, rest assure that it will be release in the Prometheus Futures build (which will likely be before Q3). Stay tuned here for more details as time passes.
