Two New Microsoft MVPs at Team Telerik

MVP_FullColor_ForScreenI don't often get to brag about the accomplishments and hard work of the outstanding members on the Telerik Evangelism Team, but with the recent round of Microsoft MVP selections and renewals (thanks, by the way, Microsoft!), I thought I'd take a minute to recognize two people.

First, I'm proud to announce and introduce the newest Telerik Evangelist, Chris Eargle. Chris joins the Telerik Team as a well respected and prolific speaker in the .NET community, and an active holder of a Microsoft MVP award. Many of you probably already know Chris, but if you don't, be sure to say hi when you see him at your local DNUGs and check him out on his blog, KodeFuGuru, and on twitter, @kodefuguru.

Next, I'm also excited to announce that our very own XAML Evangelist, Evan Hutnick, has just been awarded a Silverlight Microsoft MVP. Congratulations to Evan on working tirelessly in 2010 to serve the XAML community (in addition to the Telerik community!). You can pat Evan on the back on his twitter, @evanhutnick.

Telerik has one of the most generous and hard working teams in the industry, and I'm happy their efforts are recognized by all. With more than 5 Microsoft MVPs and several Microsoft RDs on staff, Telerik stays well connected so that we can deliver the best possible products to you, our customers. If you ever need support for your community events, or have questions for our Microsoft experts and MVPs, don't hesitate to reach out. We're here for you and we have the awards to prove it!

Telerik wins Jolt Award for Best Application Library

jolt-award-2010

It’s with great honor that I get to share with you that Telerik has been awarded the Dr.Dobb’s Jolt Product Excellence Award in the category of Application Libraries and Frameworks. This win recognizes the Telerik Premium Collection bundle, which as you know includes everything from the RadControls to OpenAccess ORM to JustCode, as the best collection of tools available for software development as determined by an experienced panel of expert industry judges.

This award is extra special because the Telerik Premium Collection was judged against all software libraries and frameworks- not just tools built for .NET. That means the Telerik tools were deemed the best tools for developers, period. Entries from a range of platforms, including .NET, Java, and who knows what else, were judged and Telerik came-out on top.

First, I want to again thank you, our active and loyal customers for continuing to give us the feedback that has helped us build definitive, industry-leading products! We work every day to make your lives easier and awards like this only serve to verify that we’re all moving in the right direction.

Second, I want to apologize to our non-.NET friends. Most of our tools target .NET very specifically, so we apologize that you will not be able to enjoy the best tools available for software development. Assuming you’re not ready to make the switch to .NET, hopefully you can enjoy some of our other tools like TeamPulse and WebUI Test Studio that are useful to .NET and non-.NET developers alike.

Enjoy working with best developer tools money can buy and don’t forget to vote for them in the Community Choice Awards this week!

Telerik wins Best of TechEd 2010

best-of-teched-2010See that trophy sitting there? That’s the “Best of TechEd: Software Components and Middleware” award (right above the previously mentioned Code Project Members’ Choice award). This is a huge honor for Telerik and we are extremely grateful for all the support and feedback from you, our customers, that helped us bring this trophy home. As our CEO said, this is validation that we’re on the right track and it only pushes to go further!

And while we didn’t take home the trophy in the other two categories where we were nominated (congrats to Dundas and Quest!), being a Best of TechEd Finalist is still a major accomplishment. Hundreds of submissions from around the world get whittled in to fewer than 50 finalists, so being represented in 3 of 14 award categories (only Quest, Symantec, and Microsoft matched that feat) says a lot about Telerik’s success delivering solutions for all aspects of .NET development.

Thank you for being part of Telerik’s success and stay tuned for an exciting Q2 release in a few short weeks!

Telerik at TechEd, Winning awards

IMG_2048 As you know, this is a busy week for Telerik because we’re in full-force at TechEd 2010. TechEd New Orleans is underway and the Telerik crew is busy doing booth demos, talking to Telerik fans, and helping developers learn how Telerik’s tools help them save time building great software. As you would expect at a conference made-up largely of the “IT Pro” audience, Telerik’s TeamPulse planning software and WebUI Test Studio testing software are very popular in the booth this week, and Telerik Reporting is a big hit with the BI attendees (especially with our support for Silverlight, WPF, WinForms, and ASP.NET).

We’re also very honored to receive some awards this week.

We kicked-off the week taking home the Code Project Members’s Choice Award for Best Silverlight UI components! The Telerik Silverlight Team has been working very hard to create the best Silverlight UI components available and we’re pleased that our work is producing results the entire .NET community loves. We’ll continue to build on this success and once again establish Telerik as the industry leader for UI components on any Microsoft platform.

Meanwhile, we’ve also been nominated for three “Best of TechEd” awards this year! We’re nominated in these categories:

  • Best Database Development Tools (with OpenAccess ORM)
  • Best BI Tools (with Telerik Reporting)
  • Best Software Components (with Telerik Ultimate Collection)

It’s a great honor to be considered among the best of the best across such a wide spectrum of .NET, and we definitely appreciate all of the feedback and support that you- our avid fans and critics- provide to help make our products great.

Of course, beyond the booth and the awards, there are plenty of parties and meetings and parties this week in New Orleans. It’s a busy time, but an exciting time. And speaking of time, it’s time for me to get back to the expo floor…

Telerik wins Red Herring Global 100

In case you haven't noticed, Telerik is growing. We are constantly working in new directions to support .NET developers and deliver all of the tools and UI components that developers need to be successful. If we make your job easier, we've done our job. From our humble roots in 2002 making UI components for ASP.NET, then a fledgling platform from Microsoft, to 2009 where we offer UI components for ASP.NET AJAX, ASP.NET MVC, Silverlight, WPF, and WinForms, and tools like OpenAccess ORM, Telerik Reporting, JustCode, WebUI Test Studio, and the popular Work Item Manager and Project Dashboard for TFS- not to mention our investment in CMS with Sitefinity- we've come a long ways.

It's always an honor, then, to see your efforts recognized in a significant way. Telerik was recognized in a big way by being named to the Red Herring Global 100 list for 2009. The Global 100 lists the top 100 private tech companies in the world. Last year, Telerik placed on the Europe 100, so this year's jump to the Global list is a huge step forward. In the past, companies like Google, YouTube, Skype, and Yahoo have been recognized with this award (and we all know where those companies are today). Other recognized companies on 2009's Red Herring lists include Parallels, Twitter, and Ustream.
Of course, none of this is possible without your continued support and feedback. We drive our business in direct response to your input, so keep it coming. With our new PITS system and some exciting plans for 2010, we're confident that this will be another big year for Telerik, and I can't wait to be part of the progress.
In the mean time, thank you for your support. And thank you to Telerik for taking the bet on me more than 3 years ago. Here's to our continuing global domination in the name of making .NET developers more productive!

Telerik Wins Big in 2009 SD 100 Awards, Visual Studio Magazine Readers' Choice

I've always said that you can never trust a single poll, survey, or judged result in isolation. Statistically, there are always "outlier" results, so you need to aggregate results from a variety of sources to create accurate assessments of anything subjective. That's why it's especially significant that Telerik has been recognized by not only the 2009 SD Times 100 Awards, but also the 2009 Visual Studio Magazine Readers' Choice Awards. Combine that with our strong showing the 2009 aspnetPro Readers' Choice Awards and the 2009 Code Project Members' Choice Awards, and it becomes clear that it is no fluke that Telerik is continually recognized as the best in industry awards. Our most recent awards are for similar recognitions: creating the best web and desktop components for .NET. Specifically, we are the winner in the "Component Suites for .NET - Desktop and Web" category in the 2009 Visual Studio Magazine Readers' Choice Awards (along with a handful of other "2nd place" awards) and we are recognized as one of the leading vendors in the SD Times 100 "Components and Libraries" category. Combine that with the recent "casual" survey that shows Telerik as the leading 3rd party Ajax suite for .NET, and you start to paint a picture of quality you can trust. Of course, as with any of our awards- Readers' Choice or not- we must thank you for our continued success! Your votes and your feedback help make us great and we focus on that everyday, renewing our commitment daily to make tools and components that make your developer lives simpler. Thanks for helping make the first half of 2009 a great year. We can't wait to make the second half (with your help) even better!

Vote for Telerik in 2008 Readers' Choice Awards

It's March. Do you know what that means? Clocks are "springing forward" around the world. College hoops is well underway. The major Microsoft conference season has started. And it's time for the annual asp.netPRO Readers Choice Awards. That's right, the voting has just opened for one of the most respected and well recognized awards programs in the .NET industry. Last year, Telerik brought home 8 Readers Choice Awards, one for every category in which it was nominated. For that, we continue to owe you- the "readers"- a huge thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for Telerik with the rest of the .NET community.

This year Telerik is nominated once again in a number of award categories. In fact, we've picked-up 3 new category nominations this year, so you've got your voting work cut out for you. And the nominations are (in voting order):

  • Best Charting & Graphics Tool: Telerik RadChart
  • Best Community Resource: Telerik's Community
  • Best Component Set: Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET
  • Best Content Management System: Sitefinity Web CMS
  • Best Grid: Telerik RadGrid
  • Best Navigational Control: Telerik RadMenu
  • Best Online Editor: Telerik RadEditor
  • Best Printing/Reporting Tool: Telerik Reporting
  • Best Scheduling/Calendar Tool: Telerik RadCalendar
  • Best Training: Telerik
  • Best Utility: Telerik RadSpell
And if you make it through all of those categories (making your Telerik votes along the way, of course), you'll be asked last to cast your vote for "Product of the Year." Telerik has about 10 options in this list, so to concentrate our "PotY" votes, let's all vote for the RadControls for ASP.NET as product of the year. Also, in the category of Best Scheduling/Calendar Tool, cast your vote for Telerik here if you like our RadScheduler or RadCalendar. I don't think we can have both products nominated in this category, so you'll have to make a RadScheduler vote a RadCalendar vote.

Also, while voting, show some support for our good friends at Falafel Software by voting for their Active!Focus product in the Best Project Management/Defect Tracking Tool category. This is their inaugural year in the awards and I know they'd love to get your support and do well.

With that, I encourage you to vote right now before you forget and then check back in early May to see the results. Thanks in advance for all of your support in these awards and for choosing Telerik as your .NET component vendor of choice!

Telerik award winning communication recognized

Since there is little else to report on this Monday afternoon, let me take this opportunity to highlight some fun awards Telerik won in early January from the Society for Technical Communication. In this year's Technical Art Online Competition, Telerik won the Excellence Award in the Promotional Materials Design category for the Q2 2007 "hype" game and a couple of Merit Awards for the RadChart and Telerik Reporting development manuals. As a reminder, the documentation for Telerik's RadTreeview also won the Distinguished Award in the 2007 STC International Online Communication Category. These awards underscore the hard work that all teams at Telerik put in to making sure our communication- both technical and promotional- is among the best anywhere. Hopefully you've found that to be the case when you interact with Telerik documentation.

Even though we are good communicators, we are far from perfect. We are always on a quest to improve our documentation and make all of our published material as accessible as possible for developers of all skill levels. In fact, a key area of focus for the upcoming Q1 2008 release is improving documentation across all product lines, with an emphasis on RadControls for WinForms and the new "Prometheus" controls. With your help and feedback, we expect to build on our recognized communication success and solidly establish Telerik communication (documentation, demos, web casts, etc.) as the best in the UI component industry- if not in the broader software industry as a whole. If it makes your development life easier, we are going to do it better than anyone else.
