The on-demand version of this Wednesday's RadWebinar on RadGridView for WinForms has finally been processed and been made available online. You can still, of course, download the original source file, but if you don't want to wait on a 650 MB download, feel free to use this streaming resource for instant access. To effectively see the code captured in this video, I suggest you run the video in full-screen mode. Alternatively, you view the video in its native size (1600x1200) by following this link (opens in new window). Enjoy this nearly 2 hour resource and stay tuned for more video in the future!

RadGridView webinar follow-up (update)
Today Lino Tadros from Falafel held the first RadWebinar on Telerik's RadGridView for WinForms. The event went very well and we hope that everyone that attended enjoyed the format and was able to learn something new about RadGridView. If you weren't able to make today's event, or if you'd just like to study the material presented in-depth, Lino has gone the extra mile and prepared PDF courseware and numbered demos for your reference. You can download those resources below.
The video of today's event will be available online soon, too. It will take some more time to process the video for online viewing, but to avoid any delays (and to have access to the "full size" video), you can download the "raw" GoToWebinar recording below. A lightly edited version will be available for online viewing in the coming days. Enjoy the content and keep your RSS readers tuned-in for the next RadWebinar details!
Download PDF courseware [3 MB]
Download demo code [1 MB]
Download RadWebinar video (MOV) [650 MB]
UPDATE: The online version of the webinar is now available for those that want to stream it.

RadGridView for WinForms webinar coming soon
Up 'til now, a lot of our online webinars have been showing the love to Telerik's ASP.NET AJAX, WPF, Silverlight, and Reporting products, leaving the RadControls for WinForms out of the fun. Fortunately, that story is about to change as Falafel has announced their next RadWebinar. On October 1st, Falafel CEO & Microsoft MVP Lino Tadros will be doing a brand new (FREE) webinar on the RadGridView for WinForms. The RadGridView is one of Telerik's most popular WinForms controls and clearly one of the most essential for LOB application developers, so this should be a very popular session.
Lino will be covering a number of topics during this live 2-hour event (of which the on-demand video will be available in high quality online much faster than before- sorry for those continued delays) including:
- Basic overview of the RadGridView's features, design-time support, and API
- Detailed look at hierarchy support
- Examination of high-performance data binding features and configurations
- Introduction to exporting data

Reminder: Free RadGrid webinar tomorrow
After a long, enjoyable holiday weekend (at least in the US), it's easy to forget items that have been on your calendar for weeks. So while you continue to "snooze" all of those important Outlook Reminders, here's your official reminder that the next RadWebinar is being held tomorrow, Tuesday, September 2nd at 9:30 AM PST (12:30 PM EST). And while this webinar is already quite full, we're leaving the registration open for all that are interested to attend.
As I mentioned in the original post, this webinar is unique for a few reasons (see the original post if you want to review) not the least of which is the advanced "301" session outline. Here's some of what Lino will cover tomorrow during this 2-hour webinar:
- Grid calculations (Footer aggregates, group footers, calculated columns)
- Client-side features (Data binding, CRUD operations, events, drag-and-drop)
- LINQ (boosting RadGrid performance)
- Grid templates (Global item template, nested templates, detail template)
Grab your developer buddies, an open conference room, and join us for a great training session on RadGrid. And if you absolutely can't make it live, we will be making an on-demand version of this webcast available later this week. See you tomorrow!

FREE RadWebinar on advanced RadGrid topics
So far, the RadWebinars by Falafel have been very successful training tools, but Telerik was concerned that too many people were not getting to benefit from the training because of the $99 price tag. We want everyone to benefit from the live, instructor-lead training on Telerik's tools. So, we're very excited and pleased to announce that RadWebinars are now a FREE resource! That's right. You can now get the same live, instructor-lead training from Falafel gratis. You're welcome.
And as if that news weren't enough, the next RadWebinar, which is covering advanced topics for RadGrid, will be taught none other than the brilliant and always entertaining Lino Tadros (Founder & CEO of Falafel). In this new session, Lino will cover topics like grid calculations, client-side grid operations, and improving performance with LINQ. Consider this a 301 session for RadGrid.
So let's recap:
- New RadWebinar on RadGrid, September 2nd at 9:30 AM (PST)
- MS MVP Lino Tadros teaching the session
- Registration is FREE!

RadWebinar on RadGrid, July 29th
One of the most popular UI components Telerik makes is RadGrid for ASP.NET AJAX. Thousands of developers around the globe use this component every day to bring rich, standards-based grid functionality to their applications, and that creates a lot of interest in resources for learning how to maximize the Grid's power. And if all the documentation, on-demand videos, KB articles, Code Library examples, Telerik Trainer tutorials, and online demos aren't enough, we're giving you one more option. On July 29th, Falafel will host the first RadWebinar covering RadGrid!
Officially titled "Developing with Telerik RadGrid," this live training session will follow the format used for the first two Telerik Reporting RadWebinars. The session will start at 9:30 AM (PST) and last for a couple of hours with dedicated time at the end to answer your questions. The price is still a very affordable (for live training) $99 and the registration is open now. If you're interested in attending this training, I suggest you sign-up early since the popularity of RadGrid is likely to cause this session to fill-up fast. I hope you enjoy the new resource- stay tuned for more RadWebinars in the coming weeks.

Announcing Telerik Trainer, RadWebinars
When you're faced with choosing between 3rd party developer tools, what are the most important factors to consider when making your choice? Features? Price? Licensing model? Support? All of these clearly play some role in the decision making process, but I'd argue that when it comes to developer tools support- before and after the purchase- are of unique importance. Unlike other software products or services you might buy, 3rd party developer tools (like the UI components sold by Telerik) are completely worthless until you can figure out how to use them. The tools may have all the features and power in the world, but if you can't figure out how to harness them in your applications you could likely care less.
Point: When it comes to developer tools, their ability to help you build better applications is only as good as the available support and training.
Teleirk has long covered you on this front better than anybody else in the industry- UI component vendors or otherwise- but we're not content to stop there. At TechEd this week we announced two brand new training resources that are going to help you learn to maximize the value of the RadControls better than ever.
First, Telerik has announced that it is partnering with Falafel Software to deliver regular RadWebinars. These online classes will cover a range of topics, from RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX to Telerik Reporting and from beginner to advanced. They will be taught live by the training experts at Falafel (that means you can ask questions) and they will only cost $99. If you're interested in joining the first class on Telerik Reporting, sign-up now because the seats are almost gone!
Next, we have also announced the introduction of an amazing new tool we're calling the Telerik Trainer. This WPF training tool is easily the most advanced self-paced developer training tool I've ever seen and I think it is going to set a new standard in learning tools. We haven't put the Trainer online yet, but soon you'll be able to download it and see the training goodness for yourself. The best way to describe it for now is screencast tutorials on steriods- but that really fails to convey all of the features. Stay tuned for more details and a link to download the Trainer very soon.
With these new learning tools added to our already vast collection of videos and documentation, you should have no trouble learning how to completely maximize the benefit the RadControls can bring to your projects. We all hope you enjoy the new tools!
